One Divided by Two Does Not Equal One

Divorce is not an easy subject to talk about. Even in Jesus' day, divorce was a controversial topic. However, as we have already seen in studying Jesus' teachings, He never shied away from controversial or difficult topics. As we look at Matthew 5:31-32, please note that these are Jesus’ words. These are the words of God’s Son. They are also in alignment with the Heavenly Father’s words. Personally, I am not in a place to judge anyone nor look down upon anyone who may be divorced. Those who have experienced divorce need not be told how difficult and painful that experience could be. However, I hope that all of us, including myself, whether we have thought of or have experienced divorce, will take to heart what Jesus is saying here.
離婚は簡単に語れるテーマではありません。イエスの時代でさえ、離婚は議論の的でした。しかし、イエスの教えを学ぶ中ですでに見てきたように、イエスは論争や困難な話題から決して逃げませんでした。マタイ５章３１節、３２節、を見ながら、これはイエスの言葉であることに注目してください。これは神様の御子の言葉です。また、天におられる父なる神様の言葉とも一致しています。個人的には、離婚された方を批判したり、見下したりする立場には私は置かれていません。離婚を経験した人に、その経験がいかに困難で辛いものであるかを語る必要はないのです。しかし、私を含め、私たち全員が、離婚を考えたことがある人も、経験したことがある人も、イエスがここで言っていることを心に留めていただければと願います。
