“Remembering Jesus’ Great Love for Us”

Memorial Day, initially referred to as Decoration Day, was observed by many communities after the Civil War. Memorial Day is now designated as an annual day of remembrance to honor all those who have died in service to the United States during peace and war. And it has been observed on the last Monday of May as a federal holiday starting in 1971. On the Sunday before Memorial Day, this church holds their worship service and a picnic at the Admiral Baker Park. We not only remember those who have died in service to the United States, but also our loved ones who have gone on before us by presenting flowers in remembrance of them. For the worship service message, we will look at Jesus' words in John 15:13 and remember His love in saving us.
メモリアル・デーは、当初「デコレーション・デー」と呼ばれ、南北戦争後に多くの地域で祝われるようになりました。メモリアル・デーは現在、平時・戦時を問わず、米国のために命を捧げたすべての人々を称えるための、毎年恒例の追悼の日として定められています。そして1971年以来、5月の最終月曜日を連邦の祝日として制定し、現在に至っています。メモリアルデー前の日曜日、当教会はアドミラル・ベイカー公園で礼拝とピクニックを開催します。私たちは、米国のために命を捧げた人々を偲ぶだけでなく、先に旅立った愛する人々にも思いを馳せ、彼らを偲んで花を捧げます。礼拝のメッセージでは、ヨハネの福音書15章13節にあるイエス様の御言葉に目を向け、私たちを救ってくださったイエス様の愛を思い起こします。
