The Gospel According to Luke: The Humble King's Sacrifice

Date: Sunday, March 1, 2020

Series Description:

The book called Luke in the Bible, was written by a Gentile believer named Luke, who was a close associate of the Apostle Paul. He set out to carefully investigate the truth concerning Jesus Christ, using the eyewitness accounts of those who were with and knew Jesus and His ministry. His intent in writing this Gospel was so that his readers would know the truth regarding Jesus and what they have been taught concerning Him. It is our hope in studying this Gospel, that we too would better understand the truth concerning Jesus, so that we may better know Him and make Him known to others.

Sermon Description:

Today's passage addresses in a positive light the opportunities that come with following Jesus. Indeed, the blessings of following Jesus outweigh any losses we may incur. At the same time, we are reminded of Jesus' humble sacrifice in bringing about these blessings. In His humility, He shared His heart with His closest and trusted friends and ultimately sacrificed Himself for them and for the sins of all humanity in order that our sins may be atoned for and we might receive eternal life. It leaves us wondering how can it be that Jesus our God, should die for us?
