The Gospel According to Luke: Jesus' Authority Over Nature

Date: Sunday, November 10, 2019

Series Description:

The book called Luke in the Bible, was written by a Gentile believer named Luke, who was a close associate of the Apostle Paul. He set out to carefully investigate the truth concerning Jesus Christ, using the eyewitness accounts of those who were with and knew Jesus and His ministry. His intent in writing this Gospel was so that his readers would know the truth regarding Jesus and what they have been taught concerning Him. It is our hope in studying this Gospel, that we too would better understand the truth concerning Jesus, so that we may better know Him and make Him known to others.

Sermon Description:

In the previous section of Luke, Jesus taught on the importance of listening carefully to the Word of God, and to take heed of it. He made it clear that those who have received the Word of God with a good and honest heart will bear fruit. The evidence of being true followers of Jesus will be seen in God’s Word in one's life and their relationship to God. In today's passage, the disciples are given the opportunity to express their faith in Jesus by putting their trust in what He says and obeying Him. It is a matter of truly understanding Jesus' authority over all things, including nature.
