Series Description:
Our new message series is "Growth Comes From Being Healthy." We will be looking at what it means to be healthy in all aspects of our life: beginning with our faith and relationship with God, our spiritual health, and then with our physical, mental, emotional, and relational well-being. The starting point for this study is to understand and acknowledge our current state of health, and then to desire and work toward change for the better. May we seek the Lord together in being healthy and fruitful people!
Sermon Description:
The last two Sundays, we have talked about rest. Today, we will look at the why of exercise, and next week we will look at the how of exercise. Since we all eat and sleep on a daily basis, nutrition and rest are things we naturally deal with. However, exercise or fitness is not something that we have built into our lives. This is especially true in a non-agrarian (non-agricultural) society, which most of us live in today. We are not naturally inclined to carry heavy bags of seeds or bails of hay or bags of produce or buckets of milk, or walk 10,000 steps without keeping count. A gym membership seems to be the necessary means to get some exercise for the modern urban dweller. So, how do we remain fit, and avoid becoming couch potatoes? And more importantly, why should we exercise?
