Series Description: All authority is given to Jesus. He is our Lord. The Book of Hebrews goes into detail regarding Jesus' superiority over all things. HE is greater than all, and we need to affirm and live out this reality as His disciples.
Sermon Description: As Christians, Jesus sends us out to the nations as His representatives to make disciples. However, what if you have been experiencing persecution for being a disciple of Christ; for making disciples? Would you be able to continue to represent Jesus in such circumstances, and if so what would enable you to continue to do so? This is at the heart of the letter to the Hebrews. And the exhortation is to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. The first chapter of Hebrews begins with a discussion of the relationship between God’s representatives and Jesus the Son of God. God’s representatives discussed here are the Old Testament prophets and angels. Jesus is greater than these representatives, because He did not just represent God in coming into this world but as the Son of God was the exact representation of God's nature. When we see Jesus, we see God!
