“Lessons from Our Seniors of the Faith”

What a blessing it is for us to celebrate and honor our church family members who are 80 years old and older on this Keiro Sunday! We are celebrating this special occasion today, because we as a church celebrate Keiro Sunday on the day before Keiro-No-Hi (Respect for the Elderly Day) which is celebrated in Japan on the third Monday of September. The message title on this Keiro Sunday is “Lessons from Our Seniors of the Faith”. We will look at three people found in the Old Testament, specifically, Abraham, Moses, and Daniel, who were all 80 years old or older, when they did something significant for the Lord. Let us learn from these seniors of the faith recorded for us in the Bible as well as the seniors of the faith in our church family of a life well-lived together with God.
この敬老の日曜日に、私たちの教会家族の80歳以上の方々を祝い、称えることができるのは、なんという恵みでしょう！というのも、日本では9月の第3月曜日に「敬老の日」が祝われるが、その前日に教会として「敬老の日」を祝うからであります。この敬老の日曜日のメッセージの題は『信仰の先輩からの教訓』です。旧約聖書に登場する3人、具体的にはアブラハム、モーセ、ダニエルを見ます。彼らは、主のために重要なことをしたとき、いずれも80歳以上でありました。聖書に記されているこの信仰の先輩たちから、また私たちの教会家族にいる信仰の先輩たちから、神と共に良く生きた人生を学ぼうではありませんか。
