“James: A Bond-servant of the Lord Jesus Christ”

All of us have a family we were born into. None of us were able to choose the family we were born into. Such was the case for James as well, who was the half-brother of Jesus. He was able to see and listen to Jesus as a family member, inside the home away from the public’s eyes. There must have been many instances in which James saw and experienced the unexpected and extraordinary qualities of his older brother. Still, during Jesus’ public ministry, it seems that James and his brothers did not believe that Jesus was the Christ and the Son of God. However, something took place to change all of this. We will look together at what changed James’ attitude toward Jesus and how this impacted the rest of his life.
私たちには皆、生まれ育った家族がいます。私たちは誰も、生まれ育った家族を選ぶことはできません。イエスの異父兄弟であったヤコブにとっても、それは同じことでした。彼は、人々の目から離れた家庭の中で、家族の一員としてイエス様を見、その声を聞くことができたのです。ヤコブは、兄の予想外で並外れた資質を目撃し、体験したことが何度もあったに違いありません。それでも、イエスの公生涯の間、ヤコブとその兄弟たちは、イエス様がキリストであり、神の御子であることを信じていなかったようです。しかし、ある出来事が起こり、この状況を一変させました。ヤコブのイエスに対する態度を変化させた要因と、それが彼のその後の人生にどのような影響を与えたのかを一緒に見てみましょう。
