Series Description

As we continue to grow in our faith, love, and hope in Jesus Christ, and as persecution and opposition to us mounts in the world, we are to continue to stand firm upon God's Word and persevere in our faith.

Sermon DescriptionPaul, at the end of his second letter to the Thessalonian believers, prayed over them God’s special blessings. Today's message focuses on what he prayed for and highlighted at the end of his letter.

As we continue to grow in our faith, love, and hope in Jesus Christ, and as persecution and opposition to us mounts in the world, we are to continue to stand firm upon God's Word and persevere in our faith.

Sermon DescriptionIf we were to live as if Jesus' return was imminent, how should we live? Paul wrote concerning being diligent and productive even as we await Jesus' Second Coming. Paul began by addressing how we are to deal with fellow believers who live unruly lives; stopped living responsibly. Paul writes his instructions to such people in hopes that they would repent and live rightly before God, continuing to be diligent and productive.

Series Description

As we continue to grow in our faith, love, and hope in Jesus Christ, and as persecution and opposition to us mounts in the world, we are to continue to stand firm upon God's Word and persevere in our faith.

Sermon DescriptionWe see from Paul's example of prayer that there are specific things that we should pray for that are in line with God's will and purpose for us. Such prayer is empowering; enabling us to grow more in our knowledge and appreciation of God’s love for us and Jesus’ example of perseverance, so that ultimately we would carry on the work of sharing the Gospel.

Series Description

As we continue to grow in our faith, love, and hope in Jesus Christ, and as persecution and opposition to us mounts in the world, we are to continue to stand firm upon God's Word and persevere in our faith.

Sermon DescriptionBecause of God's choosing and purpose, we are to stand firm in God's truth. The exhortation to stand firm is given in light of the persecutions that the Thessalonian believers faced. Persecution and afflictions for believers is a plain indication of God’s righteous judgment. In other words, suffering for the sake of faith in Christ is a proof that we are not of this world, and are indeed citizens of God’s kingdom. The exhortation to stand firm is also given in light of the fact that the Day of the Lord has not come yet. We are to actively stand firm while resting in God’s grace!

Sermon DescriptionJust like the first letter written to the church of the Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul, Silas and Timothy, are the authors of this second letter as well. If 'excel still more' was the exhortation to the Thessalonian believers in the first letter, 'stand firm' seems to be the exhortation in this second letter, especially considering the persecutions and uncertainties they were facing as a church living in a hostile environment.
