Advent 2016

Advent literally means “to come”. It is celebrating the arrival of the Christ. At the same time, there is an aspect of awaiting.

Date: Sunday, December 25, 2016 Series Description:  Advent literally means “to come”. It is celebrating the arrival of the Christ. At the same time, there is an aspect of awaiting. Sermon Description: Today, I want to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, using colors used as part of what is called the Wordless Book. The Wordless Book has been used by Charles Spurgeon, D.L. Moody, Fanny Crosby, Amy Carmichael, and more recently as part of the work of Child Evangelism Fellowship. We can give thanks to God who through His Son Jesus dwelt among us as Emmanuel, God with us, and has paid for our redemption through His Son’s death, so that through faith in Him we can live together with God in heaven forever.

Date: Sunday, December 18, 2016 Series Description:  Advent literally means “to come”. It is celebrating the arrival of the Christ. At the same time, there is an aspect of awaiting. Sermon Description: In faith and obedience to God, Joseph took Mary as his wife, and became the step-father to Jesus. God provided for Joseph to care for Jesus, and He directed Joseph to take Jesus to where He was to grow up based on Scripture. As God provided for Joseph in taking care of Jesus, God provides all that is necessary for us to live for Him. God makes available to us something greater than what He provided for Joseph, and that is the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus.

Sermon Description: In the Bible, there are people who have been given names directly by God, there is no name greater than the one that was given by God to His Anointed One, the Messiah, who was to be the promised Savior of mankind. The human name given to the Messiah is Jesus, and we are saved only through Him.

Sermon Description: As Mary responded to God’s gracious choosing of her to be the mother of the Christ, we too can respond to God’s gracious choosing of us to be His children with faith and obedience and humility.

Date: Sunday, November 27, 2016 Series Description:  Advent literally means “to come”. It is celebrating the arrival of the Christ. At the same time, there is an aspect of awaiting. Sermon Description: What we celebrate at Advent is the coming of the Christ. Jesus came at just the right time according to God’s plan, and John the Baptist was the forerunner to His coming. We are now living between Jesus' first coming and His return. In the scope of God’s time; HIStory, we are either preparing the way of the Lord’s return, or being challenged to make ourselves right with God. There is no better time than now to receive the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
