As we continue to grow in our faith, love, and hope in Jesus Christ, and as persecution and opposition to us mounts in the world, we are to continue to stand firm upon God's Word and persevere in our faith.
Sermon Description: Because of God's choosing and purpose, we are to stand firm in God's truth. The exhortation to stand firm is given in light of the persecutions that the Thessalonian believers faced. Persecution and afflictions for believers is a plain indication of God’s righteous judgment. In other words, suffering for the sake of faith in Christ is a proof that we are not of this world, and are indeed citizens of God’s kingdom. The exhortation to stand firm is also given in light of the fact that the Day of the Lord has not come yet. We are to actively stand firm while resting in God’s grace!
