Sermon Description: The writer of Hebrews in concluding his letter, requests prayer for strength, prays a blessing over his readers, makes one final plea to his readers to heed the words he has written to them, mentions Timothy’s release from prison, and then ends with a final greeting of grace. Christ is greater than all, and we are to continue to live by God's grace through faith in Christ who has brought about our eternal redemption.

Sermon Description: The writer of Hebrews, as he comes toward the end of this letter to Jewish believers who were experiencing persecution, exhorted them to continue to gather together as followers of Christ and to spur one another on towards love and good deeds, to endure persecution and suffering by keeping their focus on Christ, and as we will see today, that they would love one another even as Christ has loved them. There is no greater example of complete and whole-hearted love for mankind than our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ! Relationship is important to God! Not only is He concerned about our whole-hearted devotion to Him, but He is also concerned about our whole-hearted devotion to one another as brothers and sist...

Sermon Description: We are called to continue to walk in faith and obedience to God. Jesus as the Son of God endured suffering. We too as adopted children of God through faith in Jesus Christ are called to endure suffering. The author reminds us that God's children receive discipline when they disobey God, and the whole purpose of discipline is for our good that we may share in our Heavenly Father’s holiness. Ultimately, God desires that we be wholly devoted to Him as He is to us!

Sermon Description: Today is our Graduation Celebration Sunday. We rejoice with those who have recently graduated from high school and college in our church family, and want to encourage them in their continual spiritual journey of faith in Christ. Graduation is indeed one of the milestones that we enjoy in life, but it is not the finish line. We have many great examples of men and women of faith who have gone on before us, and we can learn from their example of how to endure hardship and continue to follow Christ. In our faith journey, we must not lose sight of Jesus and continually keep our eyes fixed on Him throughout our lifetime.

Sermon Description: It is through faith that the men of old gained approval, and these men of faith are recognized in the eleventh chapter of Hebrews Today, we will continue to look at the examples of the heroes of the faith recorded for us in this chapter. The author reminds his readers that there is a reward that Christians await even as they suffer for their faith in Christ.

Sermon Description: Getting into the "Hall of Fame" may be considered as leaving behind a legacy in this world, but being a part of the “Hall of Faith” is the legacy that a Christian aspires to. As it says in Hebrews 11:1-2, it is through faith that the men of old gained approval, and these men of faith are recognized in the eleventh chapter of Hebrews as part of what is considered the 'Hall of Faith'. We can learn much from their example of faith. On this Father's Day, may fathers remember that there is no greater legacy to leave behind than faith in Jesus Christ.

Sermon Description: Starting today, we move into the second half of the Book of Hebrews. In the first half of the letter, the author laid down the truth concerning Jesus being greater than the three main pillars of Judaism. In this second half of the letter, the author gives practical instruction on how they should live based on this truth. Thus, this section begins with the word, 'Therefore,' in reference to all that has been talked about up to this point in the letter. The author's first instruction to the Jewish believers who were facing persecution for their faith in Christ, included both an exhortation and warning.

Sermon Description: Last time we looked at the fact that Jesus' sacrifice was a better sacrifice than all the sacrifices made by the Levitical Priesthood because His sacrifice was a perfect sacrifice that fulfilled its purpose once and for all, bringing about our eternal redemption. The author of Hebrews now moves on to a discussion of the permanence of Jesus’ sacrifice and how it perfects the New-Covenant worshiper, something that the Old Covenant sacrifices could never accomplish. It is based on Jesus’ perfect sacrifice that we can and should live a life of faith and obedience in worshiping God!

Sermon Description: Christ’s sacrifice was for the forgiveness of our sins and the cleansing of our hearts. Christ’s work is not about making a bad person good as it is in making dead people alive. The effect of Christ’s sacrifice is much greater than that provided through the sacrifices by the Levitical priests in that the sacrifice is much better. Jesus' once and for all sacrifice fulfilled its purpose never needing to be duplicated again!
