"Since we are humanly weak to help people, Jesus said, “Come to ME, all you who are weary and heavy-burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matt. 11:28) As Jesus lives through us, let’s pray that people in need will be helped and find true rest in Him." "When I asked if I could pray with them, they all said “yes”, but I sensed their shock when I actually did. I began to realize that for most Japanese, prayer is done at a shrine, temple or family altar. The fact that I could pray right then and there was totally foreign to them. It reminded me of the great privilege that we have as Christians in being able to talk to the God of the Universe anytime, anyplace, and in any situation. He loves us and he hears our prayers..." We humbly seek God’s comfort, healing, protection, and salvation, for the people of Japan. As a church, we will be collecting donations to send to the Japan Holiness Conference to assist them in their efforts to provide aid to those who have been affected by the recent earthquakes and tsunamis. The Japan Holiness Conference is an indigenous protestant Christian denomination that has been sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ in Japan for over 60 years, and has 170 churches throughout Japan. They also have churches in the earthquake and tsunami affected areas. These churches are strategically located in the places of greatest need to provide relief and spiritual care. Thus, we as a church have decided to work through these local churches in Japan. Please prayerfully consider giving towards this.
We will be accepting donations for this in our worship services on March 20th and 27th. You may also mail your donation to the church (San Diego Japanese Christian Church, 1920 E Street, San Diego, CA 92102), and make the check out to "SDJCC" with "For Japan" in the memo. We will forward all funds received for Japan to the Japan Holiness Conference. |
